While seeing a few friends for what will be the last time for a while, we heard the news that a second lockdown starts next week due to the rising number of cases of Covid-19.

I just wanted to let you know the situation regarding dental practices this time around.

CTL Dental will still be open. There are no restrictions with regards to medical treatment and government advice is that you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. Those of you who have visited us since dental practices reopened in June already know we have invested a lot in air purifiers and have all recommended PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). It is of note that compared to hospitals (where it has just been announced 17% of covid transmission is currently occurring) there have been no reported cases of covid transmission in any dental practice worldwide. Dentists always were incredibly safe places due to our excellent standards of cross infection control. Since the pandemic started we are following all new recommendations and these really do mean that dental practices are probably the safest place you can be (other than remaining isolated at home). We are really happy to report that many patients have already commented on how safe they feel in our premises.

So What next?  Please continue to attend your pre-booked appointments. But if you are worried about your attendance in anyway please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment till a later date.  Whilst shielding is not being reintroduced for this lockdown, we continue to recommend that patients in the high-risk category delay non-essential treatment until further guidance has been given by the relevant authorities. When you arrive: We advise that you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional. We will continue to check your temperature and if this is above 37.8C, you will be advised to rebook your treatment and to follow government guidelines. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines. As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfectant your hands. The treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient. The air purification/exchange units will continue to be used throughout the day in each surgery. We have sourced PPE and unlike the start of the Pandemic (March 2020 in the UK), there is no shortage now.  To reiterate- please do not be concerned as we continue to maintain the highest standards of cross infection control as your safety is of utmost importance to us. Stay safe and do contact us if you have any questions.  Kind regards

Claire and the CTL Dental Team
