The Impact of Illness on the Journey of a Guide Dog

I start todays blog post with a heavy heart - we've been following Douglas since he was a very young pup, but it came to light last Pupdate that his ill-health was causing delays in his training to become a guide dog.
We recently recieved a letter from Guide Dogs UK, which has updated us on Douglas' journey.
Douglas' final pupdate
Although Douglas had been put on some pain medication to help with the discomfort he was experiencing when walking on harder surfaces , it became apparent that
he was struggling far too much on the longer walks. Guide Dogs UK have decided that continuing life as a guidedog would not be the right path for Douglas. His health and wellbeing are their top priorities, so with that in mind they made the decision to take him out of the training programme.

Sponsorship
Because of Douglas' ill health, we're having to say goodbye in the form of ending our sponsorship. This is so that Guide Dogs can fully focus on his future wellbeing. Douglas is currently living with his puppy raiser whilst they continue to care and support him.
Whilst us at CTL Dental are sad we will no longer receive pupdates about Douglas, we understand this is the best option for him during his difficult time, and we wish him all the best in the future.
It's been a pleasure, Douglas! We wish you well <3
